It's hook of "kill the giants or face execution" is pretty bad, but really the feast hall of the hill giants doesn't need much of a hook to be a fitting adventure locale in any sandbox. Jul 12,  · G1 - Steading of the Hill Giant Chief. May 23, PM by Jard. Hey! We're finally doing it! In this I will read through the module G1 (technically the PDF I have is the combined G, so if there's differences between the two, you've been warned). Let's start with the obvious: lot's of hill giants. for reference, let's look at ACKs.

While it's fun to play with the hardcore rules, the sheer size of areas in this module turns what could be a fun romp through a classic adventure into pure tedium - if my tabletop DM forced me to roll every singular dice roll imaginable, I'd spend all day rolling dice instead of doing what's fun - playing. In two hours of play, steading of the hill giant pdf download, my husband and I had only just reached The Steading. Two hours for the action to actually get started is a bit much, even for someone who enjoys tabletop roleplaying more than hack and slash.

Combined with areas that are way too big, and sparsely populated, fog planes are cut a bit too close, making finding your way in those enormous areas even worse - and just to add insult to injury, you actually have to pin the map yourself, without really knowing where those potential transitions actually lead - needless to say, you'll be doing horrendous amounts of backtracking.

The initial questgiver comes across as a bit of a grump at best, your journal entries are surprisingly uninformative, and instructions given are maddeningly vague, given the vast size of the areas.

I've actually played this adventure as a tabletop game, and this module was pure disappointment, made worse by spelling errors that, on their own, would be something I'd overlook, but with the lack of polish in this module, it's hard to overlook. Really, honestly, I was hoping for better. I loved this adventure as a tabletop game, and I'm just so crushingly disappointed at how poorly this was implemented by this builder in NWN. I have not played this module so cannot comment on it directly.

My advice is to skip to D1 or even further, I think the quality improves much with each module in the series. Steading of the hill giant pdf download to main content. Search form Search this site. Old Vault Category:. Old Steading of the hill giant pdf download ID:. Your mission is fairly straight forward - to destroy the troublesome Giants and find out who is behind the evil pact that unites the various Giant races.

An all out assault on the Hill Giant Steading is just the begining - where else might it lead? I know these mods have been done on the vault before but I wanted to create them in my own way and with HCR rules.

Hirelings are available for those short on numbers. The full series consists of 7 modules. Related projects:. Vault of the Drow D3. Queen of the Demonweb Pits Q1. Lolths revenge Q2. Thu, Sir Adril. How do you rate this content? No votes yet. Without a DM, this falls completely flat. For those playing without a DM, I strongly recommend not playing this module. Sat, What the heck is DM? Udasu's version is much more nicer than this. Have you played any other parts of this campaign?

Steading of The Hill Giant Chief. This is a conversion of the 1st edition PnP module of the same name. In this version I have 1) gotten rid of the 'slang' (I did leave some humor in, but there is a lot less of it) 2) increased the number of encounters 3) added wandering encounters 4) placed a few respawning encounters 5) made the stronghold a no rest area 6) Fixed the issues regarding the keys.
