As I read I realized the book could function as a guide to the development of self-knowledge, knowledge of others, and self-love. These eternal themes are no doubt what drew RM's attention to the book, as they are some of the same themes BTS expresses in their music.
Indeed, these ideas are significant for us all. The book is titled "Map of the Soul" and it provides exactly that. If you are not familiar with the work of Carl Jung, I strongly suggest at least watching a few introductory videos on him to familiarize yourself with his concepts. When it comes to a complete psychology of the human mind, you really can't go deeper than Jung.
So come prepared, otherwise the depth of what this book is mapping out will go right over your head. Definitely going to be rereading and highlighting concepts out of this little gem for years to come. This book is a great first introduction to Jungian ideas. It is not, as I had originally thought, a volume focused on the persona only, but the essays are useful as a very first pass through these ideas--especially if you are coming to them from BTS or intrigued by the title.
I can only strongly recommend that you follow up with Stein's Map of the Soul: An Introduction, which will give you a much more in-depth exploration of Jung's ideas and many of their implications.
